Spider Roll Redesigned is an original AcroYoga flow by Daniel Scott based on the classic Spider Roll with an important change that makes it much easier on the flyer’s shoulders. The flow includes Straddle Bat, Ice Cream Scoop to Reverse Throne, Titibhasana Float, Star Pop to Straddle Bat, and Jazzercise to Reverse Throne.

March 12, 2013 at 7:45 amGood observation– it’s easier on the flyers shoulders because instead of the ice cream scoop tweaking the rotator cuff, the jazziercise takes off the unnecessary pressure. This saves all the energy for effort required to maintain balance during the float from star to straddle bat.
If you are having trouble with that, you can work on stepping through that part. Have the flyer keep one leg wrapped around the base’s shin while the other foot steps to the shoulder. Build strength and awareness this way. Eventually, the float will happen!
Enjoy, in joy!

Shana P.: Lovely variation. I often have trouble with the titibhasana float and find walking it to be ugly. Any recommendations on that?
Daniel Scott: Wouldn’t be spider roll without that part, Shana! That being said– ask you base to bend their knees as much as possible when tipping forward through titibhasana. In the very least, remove the float and exaggerate the roll. A perfect storm of gravity, timing, and technique is necessary to make the Spider get it’s roll on. You got this!
